Reliable Greene King IPA; authentic Jacobean, mostly; central Stratford, busy in summer. Even my mother likes it (and she's picky). Safe bet. For a five, Dirty Duck by the river...
A fun pub from the 1400's. People are very friendly when they pop in, even if you are are a traveler like me. I highly recommend stopping in for a pint and a chat.
We Understand that the place is busy but we had to try a couple of times to get the waiters attention just to order. And again after nearly an hour of waiting on top of us waiting to be seen, still no food served, said 2-3 minutes which never happened. In the end when the food was finally served, had to rush in eating our foods and couldnt enjoy if it was really good or not.
Such a beautiful pub, perhaps one of the most stunning in England. Bear in mind it's 500 years old though - it can get busy and cramped quote quickly. Go enjoy, but avoid the busiest times.
Lovely historic pub. Food good; beer great. The only problem with this place is that space is very limited (as with many properties of this period). Sometimes it's difficult to get to the bar. * Although, there are two sides! The front room is cosy, but nearly always packed. The rear bar is lovely but most of the area is taken up by restaurant seating. The food selection is typical pub fare, nicely presented and good value. If you can get through the door, you should definitely pay the Garrick a visit, It's one of the oldest pubs in town, if not THE oldest.
